SHE Consulting is owned by Johanna O'Dell and is based out of Tucson, Arizona and operates nationwide. Johanna is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Registered Safety Professional (RSP) working in the fields of: pharmaceutical, environmental consulting, automotive, manufacturing, chemical, oil & gas, construction, and local & federal government, since 2004. She is an:

Johanna earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the College of Santa Fe, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Johanna is a United States Navy Veteran that specialized in aviation supply, hazardous material, and quality assurance. While in the service, she received her: Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist (EAWS), National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd), Navy Good Conduct Medal, and et all.

Wrote numerous JHAs/JSAs referenced in legal cases that have ultimately protected companies and their employees, and had an indirect cost savings

Provided compliance trainings, from entry level personnel to upper management staff, ensuring the gold-level standard for safety, health and environmental protection leading to zero OSHA recordables, and thus qualifying companies to obtain larger contracts and the potential for employees to receive pay raises and/or bonuses

Authored and implemented a company-wide Safety Performance Data Analysis Dashboard to maintain accurate OSHA recordkeeping and statistics to include DART/TRIR reports identifying and reducing employee injuries with an indirect cost savings

Co-led the roll out of an Employee Wellness Stretching and Flexing Program company-wide reducing muscular-skeletal type injuries with an indirect cost savings

Compiled many company-wide comprehensive waste stream profile spreadsheets including: profile #, name, type, treatment, storage, and disposal facility (TSDF), price, unit of measure, date, and category highlighting areas of direct cost savings, generated new revenue streams, and saving much time on the annual hazardous waste report

Created a database using commercial software to manage volunteers/interns through an entire life cycle allowing the company to track the personnel's: contact information, hiring manager, training, certifications, location, projects, and availability allowing for more effective utilization of volunteers/interns

Co-led an Energy and Greenhouse Gas initiative across 50 sites reducing energy costs by 10%, water usage by 5%, and waste by 10% within a 2-year period

Instrumental in multiple corporate, federal, state, and county audits resulting in zero notices of violation (NOVs) and zero nonconformances

Created several annual SHE compliance calendars with: description of the requirement, regulation, responsible party, frequency, due date, and completion check box eliminating the fear of violations and noncompliance

Prepared a Performance Management Logic Model for an Employee Holistic Wellness Program including a 3-year action plan for the design, implementation, evaluation, and sustainability of the new program...reduced: Workers' Compensation claims and expenses, injury rates, and absenteeism...increased: company image, employee retention, and employee morale

Redesigned a chemical storage room bringing it into compliance, adhering to all regulations, timely completion, and stayed below budget

Created a Contractor Safety Program to include: the procurement of contractors, initiating contracts, evaluating contractors for SHE compliance with state and federal regulations,  ensuring appropriate coverage on their certificate of insurance (COI), training contractors on local procedures, auditing services, and annually reviewing contractors for continued compliance resulting in zero contractor fatalities or injuries at the site

Revised/renewed a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) redesigning the stormwater flow map to include updated features, and training the Stormwater Monitoring Team

Revised/renewed a 5-year non-mining air permit reducing air emissions by removing equipment that was no longer in use

Researched Provincial-New Foundland, Canadian and ANSI standards for Fall Protection compliance in the mining industry

Inspected asbestos building remediation projects and sampled for any suspect materials, while overseeing and coordinating efforts of outside consultants and remediation contractors

Created Facility Emergency Action Plans for all emergencies that may reasonably be expected to occur at companies and ran drills bringing them into compliance with OSHA and the International Fire Code to prepare and guide employees minimizing injury, loss of human life, and resources by training employees, procuring and maintaining necessary equipment and assigning responsibilities

Participated in incident investigations and analyzed incident data to determine primary and secondary causes leading to effective injury/illness preventative actions, identified trends, made recommendations based on the assessment to reduce occupational/liability exposure, completed incident investigation training of supervisors and managers, and improved safety program implementation

Determined worker exposure to industrial hygiene risks through field assessments and air and noise monitoring reducing exposures

Completed Occupational Health physical description questionnaires (PDQs) to accurately assess an employee's physical, chemical, and biological environment to include: activity, frequency, weight lifting, special work conditions, and PPE required
